In a person’s journey with pain, there are two options: either to face it or to escape. And addiction in many cases is nothing more than a form of escape.
Escape from an old wound, from a trauma whose meaning was never understood, from a feeling of shame that never found comfort.
The problem is that many try to forget pain through denial, distraction, or even pretending to be strong… until one day, at a moment of weakness, they turn to something that eases the burden even temporarily such as drugs or other addictive behaviors.
At Relife, we always say: pain is never forgotten… pain is either understood and healed, or it returns later in a harsher form.
The first step toward recovery is not abstaining from use… but through Confrontation and standing in front of the mirror with courage and admitting:
“I was hurt… and the pain is still there.”
This is not a moment of weakness, but a moment of true bravery.
The person who chooses to face their pain instead of running from it is far stronger than someone hiding behind masks of false composure.
At Relife, we do not ask anyone to be perfect we only ask them to be honest.
Honesty is the first door that opens on the path to healing.
